New Year

They say what you do on the first day of the New Year is what you will do the rest of the year, so here I am. I hope to make Healing Sisters more of a daily commitment. Life has been hectic and there were days I barely lifted my head out of a book. Life moves fast and there are a million and one things to get accomplished - clean this, take the trash out, call this person, pay that bill, etc - but nothing makes me feel as this site does. I love the way we communicate, the way we reach out to one another, support one another, offer advice on what worked for us, and just knowing someone cares.

I used to feel so alone. I felt as if no one could ever understand what I had lived through. I felt like no one would ever care about me, that I didn't deserve to be cared about. Of course that feeling has changed and it is thanks to each and every one of us. On a daily basis I am inspired and humbled as I read your words.

Thank you, each and every one of you for being a healing sister (or brother). May your New Year bring you joy, understanding, compassion, and friendship.

I have just finished reading your story and I cannot begin to imagine what you have been through. I feel so ashamed for all those who let you down as you were growing up and I am so happy that you have found peace within yourself. You are a wonderful woman and a true inspiration. Thanks for sharing with us and for having this site for everybody to share.  I used to feel so alone as well.  When I first started healing, the internet was still kind of new and it took a while to find a survivor site.  I was shocked that there were so many people out there who were just like me.  The support is amazing and we all understand like others can't.  I am very grateful for everybody here!  Everybody is very supportive and it helps to hear other stories of survival.
